Cinder

Image
Cinder is another book by Marissa Meyer, who I think is a really great author, and the first book in the Lunar Chronicles. It takes place, for the most part in future Beijing, and it's all about how the Lunars (people living on the moon) infected the people on earth with the plague and will only give them the cure if the newly crowned king- Kai agrees to a marriage alliance. Only one person- Princess Selene can defeat the evil Queen Levena and take her place on the throne saving the people of earth. But Princess Selene is believed to have died until Kai decides to find her. Meanwhile, he meets the cyborg mechanic, Cinder and is attracted to her. Cinder doesnt tell him that she is a cyborg, fearing that he'll be repulsed.    But then,  Cinder is taken in as a test subject, (they are testing on cyborgs to try and find a cure to the plague) and they find out that she is immune to the plague. The scientist who tested on her (Dr. Erland), tells her that he is Luna...

Divergent

Image
Divergent is a book by Veronica Roth that has also been made into a movie (which some of you may have watched). There are four books in the series: Divergent, Insurgent, Allegiant, and Four.        I'm actually in the middle of reading Allegiant right now, and it definitely seems like a blog- worthy series. It's about the world years from the future where in order to better the world, the people have divided themselves into five factions. In each faction, one characteristic that they believe is most important is promoted. When a child turns sixteen, they get to decide what faction they want to be in. The five factions are: Dauntless (who value bravery), Erudite (who value intelligence), Amity (where they value peace and kindness), Abnegation (where they value selflessness), and Candor (where they value honesty).    They are also given an aptitude test, where they are injected with a serum and placed in an illusion of differe...

Perfectionist

Image
The book Perfectionist was written by Sarah Shepard ( also the writer of Pretty Little Liars) and was a really really good mystery book. It's about five girls who began talking about who they would like to kill and how. Of course they don't mean to go through with any of it. But they do decide to go through with a little prank on Nolan, a popular high school boy they all hate. They're going to slip him an Oxy (the drug of his choice), then once he's passed out, they can write all over his face an post a picture online.     But their plan backfires once Nolan is killed during their prank. The thing is- they didn't do it; so who did?    Being the police's main suspect, they all set out to find out who's actually the murderer. They think the mystery's solved once they find out that their films teacher abused people in their class and that he had the same drugs in his house that was used to kill Nolan. But then he's killed too and they're back t...

One of Us is Lying

Image
This is the first mystery book I'm doing a post on. The novel was written by Karen M. McManus, and it is about five teenagers who walk into detention one day, and only four make it out. Simon, a boy who runs a blog called About That- a gossip app that's ruined a lot of lives. Cooper, Addy, Bronwyn, and Nate all have secretsthey don't want Simon to blog about, and when Simon is killed, the police is convinced that it's one of them. Everybody's got secrets- but who would go the farthest to keep theirs? Only, as the four of them grow closer, their secrets get out- Addy's boyfriend breaks up with her, Cooper's dad won't even look him in the eye, Bronwyn is labelled a cheater, and Nate is arrested when evidence is planted against him. And... they begin to trust each other.     Bronwyn who trusts Nate, sets out to get him a lawyer, and thanks to Addy's investigating, the truth comes out. I won't say what happens at the end, because the surprise of ...

Ready Player One

Image
Ready Player One was probably one of the books that took me longest to finish, for no apparent reason. The reading was slow, but because the book's plot was more intricate than a lot of other books. Despite this, however, the book was by no means boring. It was action packed, and filled with interesting characters.     This story is about our planet in the year 2044. The earth isn't a good place due to pollution, the environment being destroyed, overpopulation, and more. A gamer called James Haliday creates OASIS, a virtual world, to escape the difficulties our planet is facing. He becomes a multi billionaire, and when he passes away, he designs a game. He says that he has hidden an Easter egg somewhere in OASIS, and the clues as to where to find it, like in his obsession with the 19 century. Anybody who finds the egg first, will have inherit everything he owned.    Five years later, the Easter egg still hasn't been found, and Wade- who goes...

Renegades

Image
One of the most original superhero books I've read is Renegades by Marissa Meyer. I read this book only a few months ago, at my friend's recommendation and immediately fell in love with it. The characters are relatable, the plot is complex, but still clear enough to follow. It's the type of book that drags the reader in and it was the type of book I couldn't put down.    Here's the gist of the story: The renegades are a team of superheroes, who took over after the Age of Anarchy in which superheros who were looking for justice for people with special abilities, such as themselves, began harming people and using unethical means to achieve what they wanted. The renegades took over, killed Ace Anarchy, their leader, who was also Nova's uncle and the only family she had left. She held a grudge against the renegades for not protecting her family when she was young, and she began working for the remainder of Ace Anarchy's followers.   ...
